Workshops and Trainings

The Offset Project (TOP) 501c3 hosts quarterly workshops which focus on environmental stewardship topics such as waste diversion, reducing greenhouse gases, and purchasing with the environment in mind. TOP strives to create practical and hands-on workshops and trainings, and to collaborate with regional partners who are also experts in the field and can bring their unique perspective to the conversation. We also offer strategies for neutralizing the costs associated with environmental programs.

Our workshop partners include Waste Management Inc., Monterey City Disposal Services, Republic Services, Green Waste Recovery, the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority, the Monterey Regional Waste Management District, the City of Monterey, Monterey County Environmental Health, CalRecycle, Pebble Beach Company, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, the Salinas Sports Complex, Natividad Hospital, the Monterey Fairgrounds, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, the Community Foundation for Monterey County, the Monterey Bay Regional Climate Action Compact, the Monterey Regional Compost Coalition, Sustainable Pacific Grove and most regional special and sporting events such as the Big Sur International Marathon and the Cali Roots Festival.

Carbon Offsets and Your Business Model
When: October 21st at 5 p.m.
Location: The Offset Project conference room, 126 Bonafacio Pl, Suite D in downtown Monterey
What: Carbon offsets and your triple bottom line: While we encourage all businesses and special events to reduce as much of their own carbon footprint as possible, it is not always practical to reduce 100% of your carbon emission. That’s where carbon offsets come into play. Join our resident carbon offset and certified renewable energy credit experts for a discussion about how you can offset the remainder of your carbon footprint by funding local renewable energy projects that stimulate the regional economy and generate local job growth. The Monterey Bay Carbon Fund (MBCF) is the first local carbon offset fund in California and has been used by those such as the Portola Hotel and Spa and Bonny Doon Elementary School. MBCF also works in partnership with the Monterey Regional Climate Action Compact. Wine, beer and refreshments will be served.
