HUMBLE, TX (May 14, 2015) — Houston Golf Association and Shell Houston Open officials are proud to announce that the 2015 Shell Houston Open achieved a near 93% diversion of our waste from landfill, a 5 percent increase over our record 2013 rate.
This is a huge step toward the tournament’s goal of gold certification from the Council for Responsible Sport.
“We are committed to showing leadership in the field of sustainable event management and working with ALL event stakeholders to develop more environmentally and socially responsible initiatives such as emissions reduction and raising money for our community,” said Steve Timms, President and CEO of the Houston Golf Association and Tournament Director for the Shell Houston Open.
